Patch on the front, embroidery on the side or back
The combo most brands end up with: a leather patch carries the logo on the front, and a small embroidered mark (a URL, a hashtag, an icon, a year) sits on the side or above the closure. Battle Born Clothing runs both in-house, so the hat is handled once and shipped once.
How it is priced
- Front leather patch: the per-hat price on pricing, $7.50 at 24 down to $5.00 at 144.
- Second embroidered location: quoted per design. Small side hits under 2,000 stitches are inexpensive; we give you the number on the quote.
- Digitizing for the embroidered element: $18.99 one time.
- Blank: quoted per job for bucket, dad and 5-panel styles.
Combos that work
5-panel or trucker
Patch front, embroidered side hit on the left panel. On a Richardson 112FP or YP 6502 this is the standard brewery and outfitter look.
Dad hat
Small patch front, embroidered back arch above the strap with a city, a year or a web address.
Bucket hat
Patch front, small embroidered icon on the back panel or the brim edge. Keep the second design under 1.5 inches; buckets do not have much flat real estate outside the front panel.
What to send
Two files if the elements are different: the patch art as vector and the embroidery art as vector or 300 dpi PNG. Tell us which goes where. The digital proof shows both at size on the hat before we start.
Questions
Does the second location change the turnaround?
Not usually. Standard turnaround stays 28 days from proof approval; the hat simply goes through the embroidery head and the hat press in sequence.
Can the side hit be a different color on each hat color?
Yes. Thread changes are free; we note the thread number per hat color on the proof.
